Desertion is not an impulse purchase.

It develops, it doesn’t spring forth.

Struggle through the fetid mud that it is; bring your soldiers; bring your infants.

– First we fail to arm the fuzes.
– Second we hush in the barracks.
– Third, we shoot the officers.
– Fourth we walk the other way.

Where once we looked the other way, now we walk the other way.
We have reversed our scopes.
We have bent our bolts backwards, our firing pins for toothpicks, at river-bottom they are mistaken for too-slender eels;
good for little but the bug-fuckers we have become.
